Rigid Coupling
Rigid couplings are used to connect two aligned shafts to transmit power. This coupling requires precise alignment between the shafts, otherwise considerable wear is caused to the bearings and seals. Therefore, it does not allow for movement, and is similar to a rigid flange or welded joint.
They have many advantages, including simple construction, easy assembly, ease of maintenance, low cost, high torque and high torsional rigidity, etc.
